The first 2012 presidential debate: President Obama vs. Mr. 47%, #2

6:02 PM PT: Jim Lehrer kicks things off. This will be the first time since 2004 that President Obama and Mitt Romney have shared a stage.

6:03 PM PT: Lehrer says the audience will remain silent, and the focus will be on domestic issue: economy, health care, and governance.

6:04 PM PT: The first question is to President Obama: What is the difference between the candidates on creating jobs.

6:05 PM PT: President Obama wishes his sweetheart a happy wedding anniversary'tonight is their 20th. (BTW, he's wearing a blue tie, Romney wearing a red one.)

6:06 PM PT: Obama: "The question here tonight isn't where we've been, but where we are going." Romney is about trickle-down, he says. His plan is about investing in America.

6:07 PM PT: Romney also wishes the President and Mrs. Obama a happy wedding anniversary.

6:08 PM PT: Romney says his plan isn't to do what Obama says; he says in stead of top down, he wants a plan of energy independence, more trade, defending small business.

6:09 PM PT: First Mitt "zinger": "Trickle-down government."

6:11 PM PT: Obama draws a contrast with Romney on energy, particularly pursuing renewable energy'wind, solar, and other sources. And he also drew a contrast on taxes.

6:11 PM PT: Mitt Romney denies having a $5 trillion tax cut.
