Here's another Einstein in the Republican House caucus distinguishing herself on the issue of auto manufacturing on national cable television, because President Barack Obama's action to rescue the auto industry was the worst thing to happen to the industry, ever. This time it's Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), who is so on top of the concerns of the industry (that she actually does represent) that she's not really sure which auto companies still exist.
CHRIS JENSING (HOST): Let me ask you about some of the things going on on the campaign trail, and there's a controversy about Mitt Romney telling voters that Jeep is going to move production to China. According to the company that's entirely false. Is he lying about that?BLACKBURN: Oh, well, I don't know. I haven't talked with with the campaign staff about that. I will say this. For workers in the auto industry, across the board, whether it is GM, whether it's Nissan, whether it's American Motors, individuals are very concerned about the impact of regulation that the EPA and OSHA and other federal agencies are heaping on our manufacturers.
As Think Progress points out, American Motors (George Romney's old company) hasn't existed since the Reagan administration, when Chrysler took it over. Details, details. Look how deftly Blackburn took a question about Mitt Romney lying to non-existent car companies complaining about burdensome regulation! Just like that, the lies are dispatched in a flurry of convincing-sounding word salad nonsense.
That, America, is your House of Representatives.
