Assuming David Rivera is toast, Bush Jr. eyes what will be Joe Garcia's seat

Joe Garcia and former Florida Sen. Bob Graham talk to media at fundraiser. Joe Garcia with former Florida Sen. Bob Graham.
Speaker Pelosi project bug The election isn't over, but Republicans assume it is in Florida's 26th congressional district, where the dumbest criminal in Congress, Rep. David Rivera, is clearly on his way out.
Bracing for embattled U.S. Rep. David Rivera to be indicted or lose his election, Republicans have started lining up potential successors to regain the seat in 2014 if the congressman's Democrat opponent defeats him in November.

The pressure has been building for about a month, but it boiled over last week after a series of stories by The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald documented that a candidate suspected of illegal campaign activities linked to Rivera has turned on the congressman.

Goal Thermometer And who leads the pack of 2014 hopefuls?

Jeb Bush, Jr.

We're going to be playing in this district for some time, it seems.

Meanwhile, David Rivera is still a moron.

'No federal agency has said or confirmed that I am under federal investigation,' Rivera told America Noticias.

Rivera also accused Garcia of being under investigation, although he cited no federal agencies, and federal sources told The Herald it isn't true.

The reality is that in addition to the investigation of his bumbling efforts to meddle in the Democratic primary, there is yet another federal investigation into his matters:
Federal investigators have opened a second criminal probe of U.S. Rep. David Rivera, examining undisclosed payments from a Miami gambling enterprise to a company tied to the Republican congressman, The Miami Herald has learned.
Let's help Joe Garcia close out this race, and do so strongly enough that it gives Jeb Bush, Jr. second thoughts about playing for the seat in 2014. Let's do our part to end the Bush political dynasty.
