That is actually something that Karl Rove tweeted, you know, the guy who was George W. Bush's brain. He's immune to irony.
But it's not hard to see what he's trying to do'the media is replete with stories about Mitt Romney's neverending parade of gaffes. Rove here is working the refs, trying to get the media to shift from, "Romney is a gaffe machine," to "both sides do it!"
Of course, that requires us to expand the definition of "gaffe" to "words the GOP has to splice together dishonestly to take out of their proper (and non-controversial) context." And who knows, given the quality of today's political media, it might just work.
Still, looking at Rove's tweet, doesn't it look a bit odd? "Prime to gaffes"? Oh, he probably meant "primed" or "prone."
