8:07 PM PT: First thought on Paul Ryan: Mitt Romney will be as dishonest, but nowhere near as electrifying. It will be similar to the Palin/McCain dynamic in that sense.
8:08 PM PT: Second thought: His speech was remarkably dishonest. It is the kind of dishonesty that can get under your skin and get you stutteringly mad. I know, because it made me mad. But that's part of his goal: to get his opponents so mad, they veer off message.
8:09 PM PT: Third thought, and most important: Paul Ryan asked for it on Medicare. He wants the debate. He's going to get it. And he's going to lose it, badly.
8:10 PM PT: One last thing: I'm in Columbus, Ohio. None of the local news stations are leading with the GOP convention. On the CBS affiliate, it wasn't even the second story.
