2012 GOP convention live, thread #5: Lyin', damn lyin' and Romney-Ryan

Republican National Convention: The race to the bottom Watch live video here and join the conversation as we live blog the 2012 GOP convention.

6:05 PM PT: Tom Stemberg, Founder & Former CEO of Staples, is now speaking. He's pretty much the biggest Bain "success" story. And you have to count ever job created at Staples in Mitt's favor, because before Staples, there weren't any mom and pop stationary or office supply stores.

6:08 PM PT: And now another video hailing Mr. Bain as being a generous job creator.

6:10 PM PT: Romneyland seems to be under the impression that people who are not partisans are watching right now. Reality check: there's two NFL games on TV right now in my area. People aren't watching this stuff. Viewership for Ryan was 17 million lower than for Sarah Palin in 2008. Say what you want about Sarah Palin, she was a draw. These guys are a snore.

6:12 PM PT: Speaking of Palin, if Paul Ryan were Sarah Palin, he couldn't get away with his "we're going to make tough decisions" or "it gets wonky" rhetorical crutch. But the reality is that he hasn't really demonstrated any greater command of facts than she has. All he's got on his side is a slightly more furrowed brow.

6:13 PM PT: So they are playing a video where Romney says he "knows what it's like to wonder whether you're going to be able to make ends meet." Yeah, sure.

6:14 PM PT: It's Barbara Comstock! Oh wait, no, it's Kerry Healey. I get them so confused.

6:16 PM PT: You didn't build that, Bain Capital did #RNC2012

6:17 PM PT: We're supposed to clap because Mitt Romney didn't take a salary as governor?

6:17 PM PT: What are we, a charity case for him? I mean, c'mon!

6:20 PM PT: It's getting to the point where if Mitt Romney would agree to just take the stage, right now, and give a five minute speech, and then let the balloons fall, I might be willing to vote for him, just to spare myself the agony of watching these clowns pretend he can win.

6:20 PM PT: At least they're talking about Mitt Romney today. Which is probably why it's so boring.
— @markos via TweetDeck 6:21 PM PT: This is so exciting that somehow seeing corn was more interesting.
— @LOLGOP via TweetDeck 6:22 PM PT: Didn't that whole segment about the scholarship fund romney created underscore Obama's true 'you didn't build that' point
— @samsteinhp via TweetDeck

6:24 PM PT: The end is near(er):

Pool: "At 9:21 p.m., the Romney motorcade is officially rolling to the Tampa Bay Times Forum"
— @ZekeJMiller via TweetDeck

6:25 PM PT: They got all these YAWNS and clowns. Next week, we've got Bill Clinton. Elizabeth Warren. BFD Biden. And Barack Obama. Hahahah. The DNC will mop the floor with these guys.

6:28 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): New thread here.
