Republican teachers feel like 'stepchildren' to their Obama-endorsing union and teacher-hating party

Republican or not. The National Education Association just held its annual convention, and the AP is reporting that, what with the NEA's strong support for President Obama, Republicans at the event felt marginalized:

"For Republican teachers, it's almost like we're stepchildren in NEA, and then in the Republican Party we're also stepchildren, because we're public schoolteachers, and that's not part of their focus," said Keiser, who teaches high school math in Long Beach, Calif.

Oh, I think public school teachers are part of the Republican Party's focus! Crushing their unions is a focus, privatizing the public schools they teach in is, and gutting the middle class their jobs place, or should place, them in is most definitely a Republican focus.

The difference between a Republican teacher being marginalized by the Obama-endorsing NEA and being marginalized by the Republican Party is that the NEA wishes the teacher would vote for Obama and is trying to encourage that, perhaps sometimes at the expense of listening to a full explanation of why the teacher supports Mitt Romney and his radical anti-public education agenda. The Republican Party and Mitt Romney want to start by slashing that teacher's pension, health care benefits, and pay, or maybe just straight up cut her job and send the savings to religious schools via vouchers.
