New Obama ad: 'I believe'

The Obama campaign's newest ad is scheduled to run during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, which will air tonight on NBC starting at 7:30 PM on tape delay. Mitt Romney will be at those opening ceremonies, but the ad doesn't contain any attacks on Romney. Instead, it features President Obama speaking at a campaign rally talking about what he believes in:

We're a nation of workers and doers and dreamers. We work hard for what we get. And all we ask for is that our hard work pays off. I believe that the way you grow the economy is from the middle out. I believe in fighting for the middle class because if they're prospering all of us will prosper. That's the idea of America and that's why America is the greatest nation on earth.

You might notice that President Obama is wearing the same clothes that he's wearing in Mitt Romney's latest attack ads, the ones that splice and dice the president's words into something unrecognizable. That's because the speech he gives in this ad and the speech the Romney ad uses to attack the president were delivered on the same day, separated by about three hours.

Both speeches carried the same message, but you'll never hear about the first one (delivered in Hampton, Virginia) from the Romney campaign because unlike the one they chopped up (which was delivered in Roanoke, Virginia), there was nothing in the speech that they could use to create a strawman.

I'm sure Romneyland wishes they could invent new meaning from every Obama speech like they've tried to do with the Roanoke one, but they can't. And they won't be able to sustain their campaign on their Roanoke lie for another three weeks, let alone three-plus months. This campaign is about Romney's trickle-down economic philosophy and President Obama's middle-out agenda. And I'll bet on the middle-out agenda every time, because it's what works in America.
