John Boehner endorses Rob Portman to be Mitt Romney's number two

U.S. Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney speaks outside K's Hamburger Shop in Troy, Ohio, June 17, 2012. Standing with Romney are Rob Portman (L), Speaker of the House John Boehner (3rd L), his wife Ann (3rd R) and his grandchildren. REUTERS/Lar No incredibly boring white guys allowed: Boehner, Romney, and Portman at an Ohio rally in June. So if Mitt Romney passes over the dynamic Tim Pawlenty or the exciting Bobby Jindal or whoever else it is that he's considering for VP and instead ends up picking current Ohio Senator and former Bush Budget Director Rob Portman, he'll be making John Boehner very happy:
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) would prefer that Mitt Romney pick Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) as his vice presidential running mate.

"I'm partial to Rob Portman. I've been a longtime friend. He's a United States senator from Ohio, served as director of Office of Management and Budget under George W. Bush. Also served as U.S. Trade Rep. Served in the U.S. House of Representatives as well, knows his way around Washington, and I think he'd be a great asset for Gov. Romney," the House Speaker said in an interview with Greta Van Susteren Thursday evening.

So just remember: If it's Portman, then Mitt chose John Boehner's pick. And John Boehner is one of those guys who still thinks that serving in the George W. Bush administration is something to brag about.
