Mitt Romney versus Mitt Romney

So Mitt Romney's newest ad starts out with a lie, editing President Obama's words into the quote they wish he had said ... and it ends by saying that instead of Obama, "we need somebody who believes in America."

But if saying that you can't have a thriving private sector without an effective government (and vice versa) means you don't believe in America, then why did Mitt Romney say this on Wednesday?
There are a lot of people in government who help us and allow us to have an economy that works and allow entrepenuers and business leaders of various kinds to start businesses and create jobs. We all recognize that. That's an important thing.
Or this?
I know that you recognize that a lot of people help you in a business. Perhaps the banks, the investors. There's no question your mom and dad. Your school teachers. The people that provide roads, the fire, and the police. A lot of people help.
Either Mitt Romney hates America ... or he doesn't really believe in his own attacks against President Obama. I'll bet on the latter. I mean, I'm sure he hopes they'll work. But he's got to know they are total nonsense.
