Daily Kos Elections Polling Wrap: The calm after the storm

Man, talk about a dribble after a deluge.

After a day when 23 different polls dropped (and, truth be told, almost all of them within a span of about 5 hours), the pile thinned considerably today. One would expect that to be the case again next week, since a lot of pollsters try to refrain from conducting surveys on holiday weekends. As a result, a quick heads-up: there will be no polling Wrap on Monday evening, since the consensus is that there will be virtually no polling dropped on a holiday.

After Monday, however, that normal lull might be tempered a tad by the fact that so many big races are on tap on Tuesday (Texas) and June 5th (Wisconsin, as well as primaries in over a half-dozen states).

For now, here are the numbers on a fairly light Friday:

PRESIDENTIAL GENERAL ELECTION TRIAL HEATS:

NATIONAL (Gallup Tracking): Obama d. Romney (47-46)

NATIONAL (Rasmussen Tracking): Romney d. Obama (45-44)

GEORGIA (Insider Advantage): Romney d. Obama (52-40)

INDIANA (Rasmussen): Romney d. Obama (48-42)

DOWNBALLOT POLLING:
IN-SEN (Rasmussen): Joe Donnelly (D) 42, Richard Mourdock (R) 42

WI-GOV (Garin-Hart-Yang for Barrett): Gov. Scott Walker (R) 50, Tom Barrett (D) 49

WI-GOV (Mellman Group for the DGA): Gov. Scott Walker (R) 49, Tom Barrett (D) 46

A few thoughts, as always, await you just past the jump...
