Scott Brown ad emulates Romney, fails

Let's just call Scott Brown Mini-Mitt. Last week, Mitt Romney was selectively editing President Obama's remarks on how our "great American system' helped create a great business class. Well, look what Mini-Mitt has done:

Yep. He picks and chooses from the words that Barack Obama actually did say and mushes them all together to create what he, and Romney, want President Obama to have said. He tossed in Elizabeth Warren for good measure, since he's running against her.

But in his typically schizophrenic "I'm not really a Republican" way, he spends the first 40 seconds of the ad highlighting John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Bill Clinton. LBJ!!! All of them saying good things about American enterprise. The kinds of good things Scott Brown would say, because Scott Brown is such a not-Republican, bipartisan kind of business-supporting guy. Who is using the same lies as Mitt Romney to attack the president. The president who Scott Brown pretends thinks Scott Brown so important that he calls him all the time for his help.

There's a serious point to all this that Greg Sargent highlights. It's important to the Republican narrative to try to paint Obama as hostile to private enterprise. But Brown does it in such a muddled, unfocused way, he turns it into a joke.

Let's send a serious person to the Senate. Give $3 to the Elizabeth Warren campaign on Orange to Blue.
