We started our GOP Madness competition back in mid-April with 32 of the best moments in the GOP primary, and we've finally narrowed it down to the final two:
It's fitting that both these events made the finals, because they transcend any individual gaffe or stupid candidate moment. Each of these implicates the entire GOP'not just the audience members who channeled the hate of the conservative movement, but also the entire GOP field on stage who ignored the outbursts and refused to do the right, decent, human thing.
So what is the craziest moment of the GOP's primary campaign in 2012? Was it when the GOP debate audience booed a soldier, just because he was gay?
Or was it when the GOP audience literally cheered the idea of letting an uninsured person die?
Was it when Republicans admitted that they only support our troops when they can shut up and die for their latest pet war, or be props for their fake nationalism? Or was it when they confirmed their social darwinistic outlook in life, when literally only select Americans deserve to live?
Good job, guys, picking these finalists, because both of these instances say something about the modern GOP, none of it good. These aren't about a specific moment of time, but about the corrupted soul of the conservative movement.
Now let's bring this competition home.
