President Obama is delivering remarks from the White House on his administration's decision to stop deporting DREAM Act kids. Follow the updates here on Daily Kos and join the conversation in the comments. And please add your voice to those thanking the president for his action.
10:15 AM PT: President Obama's remarks are scheduled to start any minute'no guarantees of course that he will start on time. You can watch live on CNN.com.
10:17 AM PT: Romney himself still hasn't made any sort of comment. The closest we've seen is from a campaign spokesman who absolutely punted:
Romney adviser Kevin Madden on immigration decision: Romney is focused on the economy.— @FixAaron via Seesmic twhirl
10:28 AM PT: Still waiting for the president. In the meantime, this is funny:
Marco Rubio slams Obama's immigration order, argues he is "ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress"— @bigjohnrc via TweetDeck The thing is, Congress gave President Obama the power that he's exercising. He's not going around them. Moreover, if Rubio really wanted to help DREAM Act kids stay in this country without the threat of deportation, then he'd support this policy directive, and he'd work to pass a real DREAM Act that woudl create a path to citizenship.
10:33 AM PT: Meanwhile, no bobbing or weaving from Leader Pelosi:
Strongly support President's decision to stop deporting DREAM Act kids. Democratic-led House passed DREAM in 2010. GOP still obstructing.— @NancyPelosi via web
10:41 AM PT: CNN's live feed just kicked on, so I suspect we're close. And they also unwrapped the presidential podium and seal.
10:43 AM PT: Things should be starting soon. I just put up a second thread for discussing the president's remarks.
