Mitt Romneyland doesn't seem to get the meaning of the words 'mock' and 'taunt'

Mitt Romneyland is indignant because they think President Obama crossed the line when he playfully thanked a Boston crowd for the trade of Fenway hero Kevin Youkilis from the Boston Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox:

The Romney campaign's morning email says Obama "mocked" and "taunt[ed] Bostonians over the Youkilis trade.

After all, Mitt Romney is the guy who famously claimed to have attended game 4 of the 2004 World Series, watching the Red Sox clinch the major league championship for the first time since 1918 from the stands at Fenway Park. Of course, Romney did no such thing: game 4 was actually played in St. Louis, not Boston.

But beyond Romney's apparently genetic disposition towards embellishment and pandering, what Obama did wasn't mocking: it was sports fan trash talk. And when the crowd booed his comments, they were dishing it right back at him.

Here on Planet Earth, those of us who are human beings refer to this as "playful banter" or "ribbing." And if you're a Red Sox fan, you might even poke fun at Obama for celebrating the arrival of a guy who is hitting .233. (Of course, it's also true that Youkilis still walks a lot'his on-base percentage is .314.)

Anyway, the point is that this was a lighthearted moment. People came as Obama supporters and left as Obama supporters and nobody asked for their campaign donations to be refunded. There was nothing resembling the dickish brand of mocking for which Mitt Romney is infamous.

So in retrospect, it probably wasn't the kind of moment for Romney's campaign to weigh in on, but given that they did, they at least should have had some fun with it. Instead, they apparently decided to try to make a federal case out of it:

Or maybe instead of all that, we should just recognize that Mitt Romney's campaign is just as unfunny as Mitt Romney himself'and just as ridiculous. And the most ridiculous thing of all is in just two tweets, they managed to say more of substance about Obama's Youkilis joke than Mitt Romney has in the past two weeks about immigration policy.
