Senate Republicans governing like it's 2011

Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz speaking at the Values Voters Summit Ted "Calgary" Cruz, fighting to be the new face of the old GOP. Sen. Ted "Calgary" Cruz proved his relevance today with an amendment to the continuing resolution bill that will keep the government running after March 27. His amendment? What else. Defunding Obamacare. And he had the bright lights of the Senate GOP caucus with him. Even Mitch McConnell stood up in support of his amendment, along with the "savior" of the GOP Marco Rubio and a number of others.

What was the final vote? It failed, 45-52, and once again Republicans waste a whole lot of time failing to get rid of Obamacare.

And how much time did Ted Cruz waste with this? More than half a day of Senate time that could have been used on other, not irrelevant and not futile, amendments that might have let the Senate actually get around to voting on the bill today or tomorrow. Is this the end to the nihilists waste of time on this bill? Probably not.

This time a week ago, I was just getting started on my 13-hour filibuster. Are they ready for round 2? #tcot #filiblizzard
