Romney's campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, insisted Crossroads and the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future 'had a very positive impact on leveling the playing field in key target states.'The Obama campaign's strategy "might have worked" if it weren't for Restore Our Future? Hahaha! Does Mr. Rhoades need a reminder about who actually won this thing, and why?'Obama for America had a strategy to put Gov. Romney and his campaign away early,' Rhoades wrote in an e-mail. 'In looking back, it might have worked if these organizations hadn't countered them in the spring and summer.'
Oh, and as far "leveling the playing field" ... it would be more accurate to say that Romney used Restore Our Future to level the primary field'level, as in destroy. Because the main impact ROF had was obliterating Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. And what they ultimately found out is that it's a lot easier to destroy clowns with 30 second television ads than it is to destroy the president of the United States.
