Republican outreach to Latinos seems a little insincere

Web header featuring picture of smiling children (rnclatinos.com) Think Progress:
RNClatinos.com, the Republican National Committee's new website aimed at Latino voter outreach, uses a stock photograph of Asian children as its banner picture.

The stock photo found on Shutterstock is listed with tags including 'asia, asian, cheeks, children, cool' interracial, japanese' thailand, together, trendy.' But the words 'hispanic' or 'latino' are nowhere on the page.

"Brown people of America, we value and respect your heritage. You know, whatever it is. Y'all look alike to me, am I right? Sushi's pretty good, though, and that Cinco de Mayonnaise or whatever it is."

The RNC is blaming the error on an outside vendor, but I still wonder if ex-candidate Sharron Angle was in charge of their outreach efforts. Remember this?

"So that's what we want is a secure and sovereign nation and, you know, I don't know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don't know that. [Note: it's the Hispanic Student Union. The whole room is Hispanic teenagers.] What we know, what we know about ourselves is that we are a melting pot in this country. My grandchildren are evidence of that. I'm evidence of that. I've been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly."
Hey, at least you can't accuse them of being racist. They don't see race, right? There's just "white" and "all that other stuff."
