President Obama's DREAM decision draws support. Even from a few Republicans.

President Obama's decision to stop deporting law-abiding undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country as young children is being widely lauded. Some of the expressions of support come from places you wouldn't necessarily expect. The Republican attorney general of Utah, a Mitt Romney supporter, spoke to Greg Sargent, telling him, "This is clearly within the president's power ... I was pleased when the president announced it." Hispanic Republican group Somos Republicans "would like to thank President Barack Obama for showing a Christian compassionate view toward our DREAM Act children. This is a stepping stone in the right direction and towards legal immigration reform."

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), the author of the DREAM Act, called Obama's announcement "an historic humanitarian moment." Many Democrats also pointed out that President Obama's action was necessary because Republicans blocked the DREAM Act, and called for comprehensive immigration reform:

"Two years ago, Scott Brown denied the dreams of these young people. His vote to kill the DREAM Act cost our communities and our country, until the President took action today."

Rep. Raul Grijalva:

While this change is not a permanent solution, it is a major step in the right direction. The rhetoric of division and marginalizing of people by Mitt Romney and the Republican party needs to end. We are past the point of obstruction. We need to solve the problem. This action by President Obama will move us forward together as a country and as a single American people.

Several unions, the National Employment Law Project, and People for the American Way have also applauded the president's decision.

Join them in thanking President Obama for bringing young immigrants one step closer to the American dream.
