President Obama outlines his economic vision and the 2012 choice: #4

You can watch President Obama's speech from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio here. Follow the updates in this post and join the discussion in the comments.

11:50 AM PT: The other side will spend more than billion dollars on ads, Obama says. The "scary voice" in those ads will says that the economy is bad and that Obama can't fix it because he never made a lot of money in the private sector, Obama says ads will say.

11:51 AM PT: "If you agree with me. If you believe this economy grows best when everybody gets a fair shot, when everybody does their fair share, and when everybody plays by the same set of rules, then I ask you to stand with me for a second term as president."

11:52 AM PT: "I will work with anyone of any party who believes that we're in this together, that we rise and fall as one nation and that we're one people. I'm convinced there are a lot of Republicans out there [...] who don't like the direction that their leaders are taking them."

11:56 AM PT: "This November you can provide a mandate for the change we need right now. You move this country forward and remind the world why this is still the greatest nation on earth."

11:59 AM PT: Well the speech is over, and with that, I'm pressing mute. I don't care what the pundits on MSNBC have to say about it. It was a good speech, and an honest speech. It wasn't anything particularly new, but it didn't need to be new. It reflected a commitment to draw a sharp contrast with Mitt Romney rather than blurring the differences. And perhaps just as importantly it was a speech designed to make sure that if'or perhaps I should say when'the president wins reelection, that he has a mandate to stop Republicans from repeating the obstructionism they've practiced since he was sworn into office.
