Even Todd Akin's adviser thinks Karl Rove is a 'colossal failure'

Between all the failing and the ridiculous levels of denial about Ohio Tuesday night, Karl Rove's reputation has taken quite a hit in the last week. I mean, really:

Add Rick Tyler, spokesman and key adviser to Rep. Todd Akin, to the list of Rove critics. Tyler is a Newt Gingrich ally and political strategist who journeyed to Missouri in late August to assist Akin's ill-fated campaign for the Senate.

"They lost every race. It was a colossal failure," Tyler said of Rove's political entities. "They went out with their power points and convinced people to give money, but it was as pathetic a performance as I've ever seen."

One, someone who was involved in Akin's 16-point loss is not really in a position to be calling other people colossal failures. And two, when someone who was on one of the few campaigns that didn't get Rove money (after Akin's "legitimate rape" comments, anyway), it looks just a little like sour grapes.

All the same, he's not wrong that "Karl has a lot of explaining to do, mostly to his donors." Could 2012 really be the year we get rid of both Mitt Romney and Karl Rove? We couldn't possibly get that lucky, could we?
