Obama immigration policy draws 64% support

President Barack Obama's immigration was the right thing to do, popular, and puts Republicans in a bind. President Obama's new immigration policy could not be much more popular. In case Mitt Romney's refusal to say if he'd repeal the policy if elected president and all of the Republican whining that Obama was playing politics hadn't clued you in on that popularity, this Bloomberg poll should do the trick:

Sixty-four percent of likely voters surveyed after Obama's June 15 announcement said they agreed with the policy, while 30 percent said they disagreed. Independents backed the decision by better than a two-to-one margin.

Since 30 percent of people are going to oppose anything Obama does, this is just about the highest level of support he could possibly get on a policy. And that, in addition of course to their general distaste for brown people, is why Republican politicians are so upset. They know that Obama only had the opportunity to make the popular move of stopping deportations of law-abiding young people who would be eligible for the DREAM Act because Republicans blocked the DREAM Act. They're just not willing to change their party's bigoted agenda to deal with it.
