Still counting. Dave Wasserman (@redestrict) is keeping tabs on the popular vote in the states and the overall national totals as they are tallied by individual counties. As of this writing, President Barack Obama is at 50.73 percent, versus Mitt Romney's 47.59.
- If Romney falls to 47.49 percent of the popular vote, his total will round down to 47 percent, which would be simply delicious.
- Obama's popular vote lead is now 3.96 million. George Bush won the 2004 elections with a 3.01 million-vote margin.
- Bush's share of the vote in 2004 was 50.73 percent. Obama is currently at 50.73 percent, and should easily exceed that number as California continues to report in (as well as other states).

' @Redistrict via web - 7.64 million New Yorkers voted in 2008. So far, the number is 6.18 million this year. In New Jersey, the dropoff is over 450,000. That droppff accounts for a significant percentage of the 5.6 million votes Obama has lost since 2008. That margin, however, will continue to shrink as more ballots get counted.
- Romney is still below John McCain's 2008 total, but only by about 42,000 votes. The fact that Romney will barely surpass John McCain's pathetic turnout is pretty hilarious.
- Nine states have certified their vote tallies: Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.
