Tue Nov 06, 2012 at 11:01 PM PT (Meteor Blades): In Minnesota, where a referendum calls for marriage to be allowed only for opposite-sex couples, with 83% of the vote tallied, 51% are against and 49% for.
Tue Nov 06, 2012 at 11:04 PM PT: Don't look now, but Michelle Bachmann now trails by 1,200 votes. But a quarter of the vote remains outstanding.
Allen West already lost by about 2,400, but the margin is close enough that a recount is possible.
Steve King won easily in Iowa. Joe Walsh lost. Two of four, with another possible knock-off would be great consolation for not taking the House.
Tue Nov 06, 2012 at 11:07 PM PT: So right now, we're going to retain the Senate seat in North Dakota, which is still crazy to fathom. We're probably not going to win the Nevada Senate race, which is a wasted opportunity. Oh well. Jon Tester in Montana appears headed toward an easy reelection.
If those hold, we will have picked up a net two seats -- losing Nebraska and picking up Maine, Massachusetts and Indiana. Given that we started the cycle defending 21 compared to the GOP's 10, that's practically miraculous.
Tue Nov 06, 2012 at 11:10 PM PT: Every top elected seat in New Hampshire -- Governor, two House seats, two Senate seats -- are now held by women.
Tue Nov 06, 2012 at 11:17 PM PT: Obama keeps expanding his lead in Florida, now 65,000 votes with just 1.4% left. He's won it. Final tally will be 332-206.
The Senate will be 55-45, unless something crazy happens in either Montana or Nevada.
The House tally is difficult to gauge because of redistricting. We'll have a better idea Wednesday.
Marriage equality rocked it. Breaking our endless losing streak at the ballot box, we legalized equality in Maine, Maryland, and -- looking good -- Washington, while killing an anti-equality amendment in Minnesota.
We'll have a ton of coverage on Wednesday, as well as coverage of the inevitable civil war on the Right. So let's all get some well-deserved sleep tonight. I'll certainly sleep like a baby. And let's talk about what it all means afterward.
One more thing before I check out -- Fox News is still talking about Ohio. A fitting ending for a brilliant night.
