Polish Solidarity wants you to know it's not endorsing Mitt Romney

The famed-even-in-America Polish union Solidarity wants to be sure that no one thinks it agrees with its former leader's effective endorsement of Mitt Romney. In response to Lech Walesa telling Romney "I wish you to be successful because this success is needed for the United States of course, but for Europe and the rest of the world too," the leaders of Solidarity released a statement making clear that the union "is in no way involved" in Romney's trip to Poland or meeting with Walesa:

Regretfully, we have learned from our friends in the American trade union central AFL-CIO representing over 12 million workers about Mitt Romney's support for attacks against trade unions and labor rights. [...] NSZZ "Solidarnosc" will always support the AFL-CIO in their struggle for the right of workers to organize and bargain collectively.

Walesa, who was president of Poland between 1990 and 1995, is remembered for his role as a co-founder and early leader of Solidarity, but he split with the union's current leadership several years ago and obviously split with the concept of solidarity with workers in his support for Romney.
