He hates Obamacare more than anyone. In the fight for ideological purity, or wingnut base love in a potential 2016 primary fight, Sen. Ted Cruz is taking Rep. Paul Ryan head on, pitting his push to totally defund Obamacare against Ryan's "repeal" in his budget that still uses the Medicare cuts and tax increases included in the law to make his numbers (sort of) work.
'I think the Ryan budget is a strong positive step that doesn't go nearly far enough,' said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a leading conservative voice in the upper chamber.
Another 2016 hopeful is rushing to keep up with Cruz:
'I'd like to see it completely repealed,' said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) when asked about the treatment of the healthcare law in the House GOP budget. Rubio's position is consistent with the one adopted by presidential nominee Mitt Romney last year, which trumped Ryan's on the GOP ticket.
Obamacare, the gift that Republicans refuse to believe won't just keep on giving.
