Not breaking: War on Women not good strategy for wooing Lady-Americans, actually

Yes, sluts vote. And not for Republicans. Surprising no one'except the entire Republican Party, of course'Lady-Americans were not really that into the Republican Party's message in this year's election:

According to CNN's exit polls, 55 percent of women voted for Obama, while only 44 percent voted for Mitt Romney. Men preferred Romney by a margin of 52 to 45 percent, and women made up about 54 percent of the electorate. In total, the gender gap on Tuesday added up to 18 percent -- a significantly wider margin than the 12-point gender gap in the 2008 election.

You'd think women would have responded more favorably to two steady years of House Republicans attempting to make possession of a vagina a felony; plus the Romney campaign telling women to "wake up" and realize that they care about all the wrong things (like, you know, their basic rights); plus Republicans constantly insisting that, nuh uh, they totally aren't doing that because Obama and caterpillars.

Toss in some casual dismissive comments about how some rape isn't that bad and isn't really rape anyway and also magic lady parts and "science" and stuff, and you'd think that would guarantee an electoral landslide for the Republican Party, but alas, chicks are so fickle and, according to Rush Limbaugh'the self-appointed authority on "feminazi-ism" and what women should find insulting'they like a man who "treats them like vaginas." The impotent gasbag is particularly shocked and amazed that all the single ladies voted for Obama in such overwhelming numbers, just because "they thought Mitt Romney was going to take away their birth control pills."

Meanwhile, other conservatives are considering the possibility that an aggressive War on Women might not have been the best way to, you know, woo women:

Dismissing reproductive rights and other women's issues as a "distraction" from the economy was a strategic mistake by Republicans that could have cost them the election, conservative pundits and women's groups charged on Wednesday.

Gee, ya think?

Naturally, most conservatives will take the absolute wrongest lesson from this election that they can. Anti-woman groups like Concerned Women for America and the Susan B. Anthony List claim the real problem is that Mitt Romney and the Republicans weren't anti-woman enough. All those polls that for months showed just how scared women were of a Romney presidency and how it would jeopardize their basic rights'polls confirmed by Tuesday's election results'mean absolutely nothing to the fervent warriors in the War on Women.

So while American voters of the lady persuasion sent a clear "cut this shit out!" message to the Republican Party, don't expect Republicans to actually hear it.
