2012 Democratic convention live, #9

The Democratic National Convention 2012: We're winning Watch live video here and join the conversation as we live blog the 2012 Democratic convention

7:49 PM PT: Apparently President Clinton is speaking off-the-cuff now. Or at least without a TelePrompTer.

7:52 PM PT: "Did y'all watch their convention? I did." Laughter. "It went something like this. We left him a total, but he hasn't cleaned it up fast enough, so fire him and put us back in."

7:53 PM PT: "I like the argument for President Obama's reelection a heck of a lot better. Here it is: He inherited a deeply damaged economy, put a floor under the crash, began the long hard road to recovery, and laid the foundation for a modern, more well-balanced economy that will produce millions of good new jobs, vibrant new businesses, and lots of new wealth for the innovators."

7:53 PM PT: This gets the audience on its feet: "Are we where we want to be? No. Is the President satisfied? No. Are we better off than we were when he took office, with an economy in free fall, losing 750,000 jobs a month.  The answer is YES."

7:54 PM PT: Bill Clinton quotes Ronald Reagan. That one will leave a mark.

7:56 PM PT: With Clinton, Castro, Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren, and Deval Patrick, we've got five speeches so far in the DNC, all of which were better than any of the speeches in Tampa. Embarrassment of riches.

7:57 PM PT: So here's the jobs scorecard, Clinton says: President Obama'4.5 million. Congressional Republicans? Zero.

7:58 PM PT: "And I'll tell you something else, the automobile auto restructuring worked."

7:59 PM PT: "There are now 250,000 more people working in the auto industry than when Obama restructured the industry." Romney opposed that restructuring. "So here's another jobs score. Obama 250,000. Romney zero. Ohio and Michigan, are you listening?"

8:00 PM PT: Bill Clinton -- sparing the country from having to watch replacement NFL referees. Four more years! #goodellisadope, #DNC2012
— @ESQPolitics via web 8:01 PM PT: Some smart Beltway dude can convince me otherwise, but I don't think Clinton is undermining the president very effectively here. #DNC2012

8:01 PM PT: It's going to be bedlam when the president joins President Clinton on stage.

8:02 PM PT: Best thing about Clinton: It drives GOP crazy that he could punch a puppy in the face on live television and get elected six weeks later.
— @jamisonfoser via Echofon Indeed. Mitt Romney is tearing his hair out right now.

8:02 PM PT: I can hear Mitt Romney whining to himself: "But he said I had a sterling business record!"

8:04 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): New thread here.
