Mitt Romney's women's ambassador says birth control is off message

They'll tell you what you care about. Listen up, ladies. Stop caring about the Republicans' efforts to take away your birth control. And you are definitely not to consider that when you're in the voting booth this November. Why not? Because that's not the message of this election.

Ann Romney says so. Repeatedly.

KWQC TV6: Do you believe that employer-provided health insurance should be required to cover birth control?

ANN ROMNEY: Again, you're asking me questions that are not about what this election is going to be about. This election is going to be about the economy and jobs.

KWQC TV6: Well, a Pew research poll shows those issues are very important to women, ranking them either 'important' or 'very important. [...]

ANN ROMNEY: Listen, I've been across this country, I've been for a year-and-a-half on the campaign trail. I've spoken with thousands of women and they are telling me, they're telling me a couple of things, one they say they're praying for me which is really wonderful, and then they're saying, 'please help, please help. We are so worried about our jobs.' So really if you want to try to pull me off of the other messages it's not going to work because I know because I've been out there. [...]

So stop talking about birth control already. Mitt has authorized her only to talk about the economy so this election has to be about the economy. Period. Never mind that the ability to take control of your personal economy, your life, and your family by planning how many children you have is a pretty damned fundamental issue for every woman of child-bearing age who doesn't have a husband with Swiss bank accounts.

Who is she hearing from? Those women, the ones with the Swiss bank accounts. They won't be shy about expressing their concerns about the economy to the Romneys; their concerns that they're not going to get another tax break if Romney isn't elected.

It's also entirely possible that Ann Romney doesn't hear about the concerns of women of child-bearing age because none of those women show up to talk to her. It's not like they're really in her husband's demographic.
