Paul Ryan: Republicans only lost because of 'urban' voters, therefore Americans didn't reject us

Asked if the voters rejected the Republican vision, Ryan said of the president: "Well, he got turnout. The president should get credit for achieving record-breaking turnout numbers from urban areas for the most part, and that did win the election for him.

Actually, the president should get credit for becoming just the second out of the last 10 presidents to win a majority of the popular vote both times he was on the ballot. (Reagan was the other.) Beyond that, the numbers that matter are these ones: 332 and 206. And when you're the guy who got 206 electoral votes, your vision was rejected. It's as simple as that.

Paul Ryan might not like the fact that voters in "urban areas" have the same rights as every other American (and judging from the way his party tried to suppress the vote in cities, it's pretty clear he's not alone), but that won't change the fact that when people voted, they chose President Obama and Vice President Biden. And in doing that a majority of Americans not only rejected the Republican vision as articulated by Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, they endorsed the Democratic agenda. And no matter how much Paul Ryan whines about it, nothing is going to change that simple fact.
