Mitt Romney on his London gaffe: I meant to do that

Republican U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney (R-MA) gestures as he speaks at the American Conservative Union's annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, February 10, 2012.  REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst   (UNITED STATES - Tags: "And don't even get me started on Belgium" Regarding Mitt Romney's recent trip to London that included questioning whether Londoners would be able to pull off their own Olympics, the episode President Obama referenced during his convention speech, not to worry: Mitt says he meant to do that. Or at least, there was nothing wrong with it, no matter what those silly Londoners might have thought:
Mitt Romney said Friday he sees nothing wrong with the comments he made about the London Olympics that set off a firestorm of criticism from Brits and his American political opponents. [...]

'I'm very pleased that my Olympic experience allows me to talk about the Olympics in a straight talk manner and I think it would be appropriate if the president would talk to China in a straight talk manner,' Romney said at a press conference on the airport tarmac in Sioux City, Iowa.

He then proceeded to do a bit of economic saber-rattling at China, because when it comes to foreign policy, insulting people is pretty much all he knows. Come to think of it, that's most of his domestic policy too. And his entire campaign strategy, from the primaries onward. Not a lot of tools in that shed, I think.
