While the Romney/Ryan team is doing its best to keep the real Paul Ryan under wraps, the Democrats are recognizing what a potent weapon he is. He's starring in a number of new ads by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, like this one:
The ads are designed to capitalize on Ryan's newfound prominence in the 2012 campaign. With the public growing increasingly aware of Ryan and his plan after his time on the campaign trail, Democrats strategists tasked with finding a path back to the House majority say they are seizing an opportunity to attach Republican candidates to a budget plan that many voters don't like. [...]So both parties recognize that the Ryan budget is potentially disastrous for the whole Republican ticket. For Republicans, that means shoving the plan under the rug. For Democrats, it means putting it front and center.Democrats say to expect plenty more ads featuring Ryan in blue states like New York, California and Illinois, where the party is waging vigorous efforts to unseat Republicans. They'll also target Ryan in blue-collar areas like West Virginia, where the House Majority PAC ad is in flight.
