2012 Democratic convention live, #3: A tribute to Senator Ted Kennedy (featuring Mitt Romney)

The Democratic National Convention 2012: We're winning Watch live video here and join the conversation as we live blog the 2012 Democratic convention

5:01 PM PT: Here's the DNC's Ted Kennedy tribute video, featuring his 1994 debate with Mitt Romney:

5:03 PM PT: And let their be umbrage taken!

Classless Dems use tribute video of deceased Ted Kennedy to attack Mitt Romney.

5:05 PM PT: Waiting for Sarah Palin to say something about blood libel. But the GOP's whining is going to be a tough sell:

I, for one, am shocked that Democrats would inject politics into a video about politician Ted Kennedy during a political convention
— @ezraklein via Twitter for Mac

5:06 PM PT: Let it be said they are nothing if not reasonable:

Dems propose make-good: Allow Romney to debate video Ted Kennedy #emptychair
— @joshtpm via web

5:08 PM PT: For some reason, in the middle of Robert Wexler's speech praising President Obama's support for Israel, C-SPAN cameras spend several moments lingering on Jesse Jackson, milling on the convention floor.

5:15 PM PT: Your dude talked to a chair. Go sit down. RT @Reince Classless Dems use tribute video of deceased Ted Kennedy to attack Mitt Romney.
— @KatInWilm via web 5:16 PM PT: Thus far, the #DNC2012 differs notably from its Republican counterpart in that its speakers actually mention their presidential candidate.
— @JamilSmith via Twitter for iPhone Yeah, unlike last week's affair, the people at the DNC are actually proud of the guy at the top of the ticket.

5:20 PM PT: Very good point:

Speeches are a lot more varied than RNC, where first day was basically 50 cookie cutter "You didn't build that"s  #DNC2012
— @BenjySarlin via TweetDeck For example:
The first male to talk about parenting in the way that almost every woman has is Jared Polis.
— @emptywheel via TweetDeck As Polis said: "We celebrate Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs, even Republicans, because it's their future too."

5:25 PM PT: Maria Ciano, a stay-at-home mom and former Republican, takes the stage to explain why she switched parties. It comes down to five words: The Republican War On Women. And now Nancy Keenan, the head of NARAL takes the stage. Later in the convention Planned Parenthood President Cecille Richards will address the convention.

5:26 PM PT: Isn't it shocking that the notion of family planning is controversial? "We believe that a woman should make health care decisions with her family, her doctor, and her God," Keenan says. "We believe there is no room for politicians'especially those politicians who don't know how women's body's work. We are so proud to have a president who stands with women and trusts women."

5:27 PM PT: It's 2012 in American politics: a convention speaker just had to say "We believe that rape is rape."
— @ddayen via web

5:28 PM PT: Keenan reminds the hall that when President Obama defended Sandra Fluke from Rush Limbaugh's verbal assault, Mitt Romney didn't. "Women in American cannot trust Mitt Romney," she says.

5:29 PM PT: Romney may want to take away the right to choice, she concludes, "but there is one decision that he cannot taken: and that's the one women will make November 6."

5:33 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): New thread here.
