Missouri lawmaker writes bill to make proposing new gun control measures a felony

In Missouri, Republican Mike Leara knows that what pro-gun Americans really need, in the wake of all this uncomfortable talking-about-mass-murders-like-maybe-we-should-be-doing-something-about-them, is for good and upstanding lawmakers to just haul off and punch the U.S. Constitution square in the face. For freedom. As such, Leara has written a bill to make it illegal for any other lawmaker to even propose further gun safety legislation in his state.

"Any member of the general assembly who proposes a piece of legislation that further restricts the right of an individual to bear arms, as set forth under the second amendment of the Constitution of the United States, shall be guilty of a class D felony," the bills reads.

Leara recognizes the bill isn't going anywhere, though he cites the difficulty facing the bill as "the legislative process" part, rather than the "oh my effing God that sounds so anti-first amendment that I cannot believe one or more of the founding fathers have not yet personally crawled out of their graves in order to just kick the damn snot out of you for the sheer pleasure of it" part. Again, though, you just have to be impressed with the laser-like focus on the broadest possible Second Amendment as the only part of the Constitution, or American governance, or American civilization itself that ever amounted to anything worth fightin' for.
