Republican sponsor of constitutional ban on gay marriage insists that of course she's still a bigot

It's coming, bigots. Deal with it. While most of America is coming to accept that marriage equality is a good thing, there's one bigot who's still damned proud to be a bigot and plans to be a bigot forever, thank you very much, and how dare anyone suggest otherwise.

That would be sore loser and former Colorado Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, whose ass was electorally handed to her in 2008'in an election from which she has still yet to concede'because, she said, "the radical homosexual lobby, abortionists, gun-grabbers and all the rest of the extremists finally spent enough money, spread enough lies and fooled enough voters to defeat me."

Yeah, she's a real charmer, that one. She was also the proud sponsor of a proposed constitutional amendment to ban marriage equality, which is why it was rather shocking when the New York Times reported that Musgrave'yes, that Musgrave'was one of two dozen Republicans who "have added their names to a legal brief urging the Supreme Court to declare that gay couples have a constitutional right to wed."

'I'm very befuddled by this story,' Musgrave told FOX31 Denver. 'There's absolutely no truth to that. I'm reading it thinking, 'what in the world?'

'I wasn't even aware of it. I have not changed my position. I'm trying to imagine where anyone would get that information and I can't figure it out.'

So never mind, then. Marilyn Musgrave still hates the gays just as much as she always did. Too bad for her, it doesn't matter. Because while she may want to go to her grave a proud bigot, even her own party is coming around, as is the rest of the country. Nine states have already legalized marriage equality; an Illinois House committee voted on Tuesday to approve the marriage equality bill that already passed the state Senate, and which the governor has promised to sign; and Oregon is collecting signatures now to put it on the 2014 ballot. So Musgrave can cling to her bigotry all she wants, but it really isn't going to matter.

P.S. Want to know where the Times got the crazy idea that Musgrave was on the equality train? From Musgrave's own former district director, former state Rep. B.J. Nikkel, who did sign the brief. Even the woman who used to work for a bigot "has become a strong advocate for LGBT rights." Poor Marilyn must be so lonely.
