Republicans would like to waste your tax dollars investigating Planned Parenthood some more

This doesn't seem like a waste of time and money at all:

Dozens of Republicans in the House and Senate have asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to examine how Planned Parenthood and other groups that provide abortion services are using taxpayer money.

That's a rather peculiar and particular concern from the same party that also believes you can't give enough blank checks to the Pentagon or else you hate America. But it's not as if Republicans have all of a sudden decided to practice that "fiscal conservatism" nonsense they love to preach. Oh no. The real agenda, as always, is to try yet again to defund women's health care:

Those spearheading the effort ' Rep. Diane Black (Tenn.), Rep. Pete Olson (Texas) and Sen. David Vitter (La.) ' are hoping the study confirms their suspicion that these groups are focusing more on abortion and less on other healthcare services. Black said this finding could be used to justify a reduction in federal funds to abortion providers. [...]

"My hope is that through greater transparency and accountability we can successfully mobilize the support needed to defund abortion providers ' once and for all."

Republicans are absolutely convinced that if they just keep waging their war on women's health care, eventually, they'll win. That's why, in the 112th Congress, they tried to defund it, threatened to shut down the whole government, spewed absurd claims on the Senate floor that were not intended to be factual, and launched bogus investigations. Plus lots of whining and crying.

And that's why they've once again introduced multiple bills to block funding. Again. Even though, as Planned Parenthood's 2011-2012 annual report demonstrates (above), abortion comprises a mere three percent of the services Planned Parenthood offers. Just like its previous annual reports have shown. Which is why it's a little strange that Rep. Black is insisting that Planned Parenthood's latest report shows it is providing more abortions and few other health services. I guess "three percent = three percent" is beyond Rep. Black's mathematical abilities.
