House Republicans add pro-DOMA language to new House rules

Generic male and female couple figures, female-female, female-male, and male, male. It looks like the motto for the new 113th Congress will be More of the Same, Please:
[D]uring a closed-door meeting of the House Republican Conference, lawmakers gave a green light to including language in the 113th Congress rules package that authorizes the House legal team, known as the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (BLAG), to keep paying outside counsel to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court. The proposed House rules package also states that BLAG continues to "speak for" the House in its defense of DOMA.
The act of including language directing House lawyers to defend DOMA in courts as part of the congressional rules package itself certainly seems unusual. House Republicans have, however, had a dismal few weeks, and this is probably meant to soothe the crackpot wing of the party.

In any event, it looks like the new Republican House is going to be no less ridiculous than the old Republican House. Being ridiculous is now even written into the rules, so you know they're serious about it.
