So, of course, the Club for Growth has put the Senate on notice that they'll make this a key vote when they compile their scorecard and decide which senators to support. In case you're wondering, "the Club for Growth urges all Senators to vote 'NO' on the Hurricane Sandy relief bill (HR 1) scheduled for consideration in the upper chamber this week." They say they will use the vote on final passage for in their annual scorecard, and warn that they might even include the procedural votes, too.
The Club for Growth does say that the bill could be improved, by "releas[ing] the funds in installments to make sure the resources are spent wisely." Which is insane. This massive storm caused massive damage. Sending in a trickle of money in along with accountants to supervise how cities and town spend it in the face of need of those cities and towns is just about the most stupid thing the Club for Growth has ever proposed. And that's saying a lot.
Fight the Club for Growth. Tell your senator to pass Sandy relief.
