Shorter Romney: It depends on what the definition of 'every voter' means

Why don't the two of you work this one out yourselves? Mitt Romney in public:

We have to make our case to every voter. We don't count anybody out, and we sure don't make a habit of presuming anyone's support. Support is asked for and earned ' and that's why I'm here today.

"Here," of course, being the NAACP'an event staged by the Romney campaign to send a message, as if that message hasn't already been made abundantly clear, that Romney is not afraid to insult people:

When I mentioned I am going to get rid of Obamacare, they weren't happy ... That's okay, I want people to know what I stand for, and if I don't stand for what they want, go vote for someone else, that's just fine. But I hope people understand this, your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this, if they want more stuff from the government, tell them to go vote for the other guy'more free stuff. But don't forget nothing is really free.

Mitt Romney in private:

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what'These are people who pay no income tax. [...]

[M]y job is not to worry about those people.
