2012 Democratic convention live, #5

The Democratic National Convention 2012: We're winning Watch live video here and join the conversation as we live blog the 2012 Democratic convention

6:00 PM PT: Wow, that was a moving presentation from Stacy Lihn. She made the case for Obamacare by talking about her daughter, who was born with a congenital heart defect, and for whom Obamacare guaranteed life-saving health coverage by lifting lifetime caps on insurance coverage. Lihn, standing with her husband, daughter, and other daughter, not only made the case for Obamacare, she delivered a rebuke to Romney for wanting to repeal it.

6:02 PM PT: Former Ohio governor Ted Strikland is on the stage now, saluting President Obama for saving the auto industry. Up next in the 9:00 PM ET hour: HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius, followed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.

6:04 PM PT: MSNBC is replaying the Lihn speech on tape delay. I'm sure there's an Olympics joke here, but really, it was a moving speech.

6:09 PM PT: Nice line from Strickland: "Barack Obama saved the auto industry. Mitt Romney saved on his taxes." Still, the speech of the hour was from Lihn, who put a human face on Obamacare.

6:10 PM PT: Strickland: "Any man who aspires to be our president should keep both his treasure and his heart in the US of A."

6:11 PM PT: Kathleen Sebelius, with her hand over heart: "Obamacare is a badge of honor."

6:16 PM PT: Okay there are some good lines in this speech. "The only thing missing from Mitt Romney's Medicare plan is Medicare." So there's some good writing. I won't lie and say the delivery is spellbinding, though.

6:17 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): New thread here.
