"And in conclusion, austerity." Oh, Joe. Must everything you do suck?After insisting he wasn't a 'deadbeat dad' throughout his failed campaign for re-election, ex-U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh skipped last month's child support payment and has asked to stop paying altogether. [']Apparently Walsh missed his January child support payment (because being America's famous deadbeat tea partier does not pay well enough to save a few bucks for the kids, during hard times); now he's filed to have his payments reduced to "20 percent of his income," and is claiming an income of zero dollars, so you do the math on that one.'Joe's employment has been terminated through no voluntary act of his own and he is without sufficient income or assets with which to continue to pay his support obligation,' the filing states. 'Due to substantial change of circumstances, Joe requests that his child support obligation be terminated based on his present income and circumstances.'
That story got published by the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday; by Monday evening, Walsh was already threatening to sue the Sun-Times for writing it, because it's not that he's asking to pay zero, he's just asking to pay zero while he gets through these tough, not-being-in-Congress times.
'This article by the Sun-Times is a deliberate attempt to defame me, and I will sue them immediately. My adult children have been my life. I pledged to them two years ago that I would fight these charges privately to keep them out of the news, but with the Chicago Sun-Times fabricating a story, I am, at long last, going to fight back.'Anyway, the lesson here is that some tea party group needs to find Joe Walsh a wingnut welfare job sooner rather than later. You can't expect a guy to just get a normal job after being a congressman. Or, you know, to have put a little of his not-insubstantial congressional salary aside for this day. After all, the guy's a tea partier. Oh, and he's still thinking of maybe running for the Senate, so there's that.
