Open thread for night owls: Former Sen. Conrad not sticking with 'former' as austerity cheerleader

Night Owls Eighteen months ago, digby was saying Fergawdsakes about the Austerity Pep Squad being led at the time by Democratic Sen. Mark Warner. The senior senator from the Commonwealth of Virginia was spouting stuff like:
'$2.2 trillion is not enough' deficit reduction, and [he] warned that any new plan will likely include both more taxes and higher fees for services like the Tricare military health care plan.
On Monday, digby repeated her Oh fergawdsakes in Sorry guys, Kent Conrad thinks we need a lot more deficit reduction:
President Obama is only shooting for $4 trillion in debt reduction. 'Over the last few years, Democrats and Republicans have come together and cut our deficit by more than $2.5 trillion through a balanced mix of spending cuts and higher tax rates for the wealthiest Americans,' he said during his weekly address on Saturday. 'That's more than halfway towards the $4 trillion in deficit reduction that economists and elected officials from both parties say we need to stabilize our debt.'
Asked digby: "Really? Does this look balanced to you?"
That's what passes for balance in Kent Conrad's mind [wrote digby]. I'm going to guess that he'd consider another trillion in spending cuts and slashing Social Security to add up to a 50/50 split. (Let's not even talk about the fact that austerity is the worst thing to be doing right now.)
Not exactly something new from the former North Dakota senator, but it was thought that perhaps "former" meant we wouldn't have to listen to this crap anymore. At least, not from him.
