Clint Eastwood still laughing about that time he helped Mitt Romney lose an election

Remember that one time Clint Eastwood was the super special guest speaker at the Republican National Convention, and he lost a debate with an empty chair, and the whole world laughed and laughed and laughed? Of course you do, because you're probably still laughing about it.

And so is Clint Eastwood:

He also dismissed the controversy surrounding the "invisible Obama" routine at the RNC. "Seemed odd at the time. But, you know, I'm an odd person," he laughed.

"One thing about getting into the senior status of life, like I am, you don't really care," he joked. "You just say what you say and then you get away with it."

Yup, the great thing about being old is that you get to humiliate yourself and the presidential nominee you're supposedly trying to help elect on live TV in front of the whole world. Plus, also, shuffleboard.

In fact, Eastwood's been laughing about that uber-bizarre performance since it happened. A week after the convention, he explained in an interview that he didn't want to have "a written-out speech" because his big, hyped-all-week-long surprise appearance was "supposed to be a contrast with all the scripted speeches, because I'm Joe Citizen." Shortly after that, he further explained, "If somebody is dumb enough to ask me to go to political convention and say something, they're gonna have to take what they get."

Sure, the election is long over, and the comedically bad Romney campaign has mostly faded from memory, but fortunately, old, crazy "who cares anyway?" Joe Citizen Eastwood is determined to keep reminding us of just how awesome it was that time he helped Mitt lose. Thanks for the laughs, Clint!
