GOP retreat to feature helpful tips on how not to piss off women, minorities

From the GOP retreat schedule, via @LukeRussert Included in today's GOP retreat schedule: a helpful panel discussion for Republican legislators on "Successful Communication with Minorities and Women." This seems long past due. (And I dare say if they would have allowed videotape, they could have even made a fair bit of money selling the outtakes.)

Alas, some scoundrel somewhere (in this case, half the internet) always needs to crack wise about these things. (Republicans have trouble communicating with minorities and women? That's unpossible!) Things are complicated by the fact that their discussion on talking with minorities is being held in the Burwell Plantation room, named after the famous Virginia slave plantation. The entire GOP retreat is being held on the remnants of the Kingsmill Plantation, which advertises itself thusly:

Kingsmill is a place steeped in honored traditions and genuine Southern hospitality. When the first English foot was placed in Virginia, it was here on these grounds that once served as a central part of the area's plantation life in the 1600s through 1800s.

Today, Kingsmill Resort retains those magnificent traits inherent in Kingsmill's early life with grand accommodations, gracious hospitality and stately service.

Gracious hospitality! Stately service, just like in Kingsmill's "early life," when mumble mumble mumble! (Rejected slogan: Come to Kingsmill, and we'll make you forget slavery ever ended.)

Yes, all of this is a terribly cheap shot. We need to be far more serious about this, you silly people. Right now, Republicans are locked in fevered debate as to how to not piss off the majority of the U.S. population, and we should be supportive of their efforts. For example, by offering good cash money for tapes of that event.
